Andrea Giomi

Researcher, musician and digital artist. PhD in Music Technology and Performing Arts (Université Côte d’Azur and Università di Bologna), he is full professor of Interaction Design at Albertina Academy of Fine Arts (Turin, Italy). From 2018 to 2020 he has been postdoctoral researcher at Grenoble Alpes University’s “Performance Lab” (LABEX, CNRS) where he carried out an extensive study on movement sonification within the project Gestures and Frequencies: Somatics and Creative Coding. From 2020 to 2022 he has been lecturer in Digital Arts at Gustave Eiffel

University (Paris Est, Champs-sur-Marne).

His research interests include embodied cognition, human-computer interaction, motion sensing technologies, digital arts and performance, phenomenology and new materialist feminism. His artistic work explores emergent relations between bodies, apparatus and technological environments. Since 2014 he has been involved in underground electronic music scene,

exploring the borders between experimental dub-techno, drone/ambient and

electroacoustic music. He has been released on independent labels such as RXSTNZ, Communion and Obs / Audior.

His artistic work further involves performance art and interactive installations.

Co-founder of Kokoschka Revival new media art collective, he collaborated with

Italian and French choreographers such as Ariella Vidach, Raphael Bianco and

Eric Oberdorff. His works has been presented at several international festivals and venues, among which : Säule/Berghain (Berlin), MiRA Festival (Barcelona), BNF Auditorium (Paris), Teatro dell’arte – Triennale, Auditorium San Fedele (Milan), Live Performers Meeting, (Rome), Tempo Reale Festival (Florence), Plateforme Intermedia (Nantes), Festival Manca (Nice).
